Thomas P. Jeakle, CPA

State and Local Tax Partner

 

Tom is the State and Local Tax Partner at PrangleyMarks, LLP.  He specializes in several practice areas including state and local taxation and automobile dealerships.  Tom is responsible for the resolution of technical tax questions and ascertaining compliance with firm, professional, and governmental rules and regulations. 

 

He graduated from the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, IN and joined the firm in 1974.  He became a tax partner in 1981. 

 

Tom is active in several professional organizations including having recently served as the chair of the Auto Dealers Committee of CPA Associates International, Inc., chair of the Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce Tax Policy Committee, and is currently a Trustee of the Michigan Accountancy Foundation.  He is also a member of the American Institute and Michigan Association of CPAs.

 

Tom has been a member of the Michigan Association of CPAs since 1978 and has served on the Board of Directors from 1994 to 2000.  He also participates in committees within the MACPA, such as the State and Local Taxation and Financial Literacy Task Forces and has served as Vice Chairman and Chairman of the State and Local Tax Committee and on the Editorial Staff of the Michigan CPA Magazine’s State/Local Tax Clinic.  Tom has published various articles on state and local taxation in the Michigan CPA  Magazine.

 

In addition to these professional organizations, Tom has been very active in the Grand Rapids community.  He was a longtime member of the Grand Rapids Jaycees  and during that time served as Treasurer, Vice President, and a Grand Rapids Jaycees Foundation Trustee.  He is also a former Advisory Board member of both Villa Elizabeth and the Grand Rapids Children’s Museum.  Tom is currently a member of the Public Policy  and Regional Issues Steering Committees for the Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce.   Tom is also a member (past President and Treasurer) of the Notre Dame Club of Grand Rapids and served as the Alumni Schools Committee Chairman.  He is currently a member of Egypt Valley Country Club and has served on the Board of Directors as both Treasurer and President.
