Information Technology Partner
 
Marty is the Accounting & Auditing and Information Technology Partner at PrangleyMarks, LLP. He oversees firm accounting and auditing policies as well as procedures and practices with all financial statement engagements (audits, reviews, compilations).  He also oversees the consulting services efforts with client software and hardware selection, implementation, and support.  He authors and maintains the firm’s web site. 
 
Marty leads the firm’s efforts with forensic and fraud accounting litigation services and with fraud prevention and detection services by providing internal control analyses for helping to reduce the likelihood of fraud/error, and by providing professional objectivity for investigation and determining of losses from suspected fraudulent activities. 
 
He graduated from Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, MI.  Marty obtained his Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) certificate in 1978, and his Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) designation in 2004.  He joined the firm in 1987 as a manager and became a partner in 1997.
 
Marty is active in several professional organizations including CPA Associates International, Inc. as the Accounting & Auditing Liaison Partner and Information Technology Liaison Partner.  He has also been a member of the CPAAI Information Technology and Internet Committees and the Accounting and Auditing, the Assurance Service, and the Internet Committees, and is presently on the Forensic Accounting Committee.
 
Marty has been a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Michigan Association of CPAs since 1974 and has participated in several committees, including the Management Consulting Services, Information Technology Conference, and Accounting & Auditing Committees.  He has also been a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners since 2003.
 
In addition to these professional organizations, Marty has been very active in the Grand Rapids community.  He has been a member of the Optimist Club of Grand Rapids since 1976 and has held many Club positions such as “Distinguished and Honored” Club President, Secretary/Treasurer (life appointment), and State District Lt. Governor.  He also served on the Board of Directors and in Club Committees for various terms.  He achieved the Optimist International Life Member Award in 1980.  He was made an Elder in the Forest Hills Presbyterian Church in 1988 and has held positions as Treasurer and Trustee.  He was a Forest Hills Educational Foundation Trustee from 1996 to 2002 and was Treasurer from 2000 to 2002.  He was the founder and past President of the West Michigan Solomon Software Users Group.  He is a member of the Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce and currently a facilitator in the CEO Roundtable Program.
 
Marty is a frequent speaker on fraud and related topics at professional organizations and civic group meetings, including Risk Management Association, West Michigan Treasury Management Association, Institute of Internal Auditors among others.  Marty also publishes periodic “Tech Tips Weekly” and “Fraud Footnotes” in the firm’s weekly e-mail newsletter and has had articles in the Grand Rapids Business Journal.
